Preparing for Your interview
To ensure a smooth interview experience for yourself and our audience, please be sure to do the following.
Preparing your computer
Check your internet speed
To ensure that your connection will be fast enough to allow a smooth line of communication use the link below and click "Runs Speed Test".
You will need an upload and download speed of at least 5mbps. If your results are less than that, ensure that no unnecessary programs are running on your computer and that no one else is using your internet connection. If the results are still less than 5mbps find a new location with a faster internet connection or contact us for additional help.
Recording software
- If you will be on a Mac during your interview you should already have Quicktime installed but check to make sure it is updated and functions. Below are instructions for recording using Quicktime.
- If you are using Windows as your operating system, please follow our instructions to install Open Broadcaster Software, a free and safe recording suite.
If you have another screen-recording app you would prefer to use, please email contact@myfreedlife.com and let us know so that we can be sure it is compatible with our process.
Preparing your environment
Our interviews are conducted in front of a live audience. To ensure that you will not be interrupted during the interview, please do the following:
- Ensure there is no background noise, and that your phone and computer notifications are silenced.
- Ensure that you have adequate lighting and that you are not backlit or in shadow. If preparing in advance, be sure to account for the time of day we will be recording.
- Find a comfortable position that you will be able to sit in for 30 minutes.
- Set your camera to eye level or slightly above and position yourself so that you take up no more than half of your screen.
